Is this trip to Eastern Europe or Central Europe, THAT is the question.
Well, it depends on what your source of information is. Poland and Romania are considered to be in Central Europe.
But Poland is also considered to be part of Eastern Europe - this occurred during the Cold War because it was Communist. Similarly, Hungary is regarded as being in both Eastern and Central Europe for the same reason.
The UN defines Romania as being in Eastern Europe now, as it is a former Communist country; by the way, it is a democracy, its constitution interestingly being based on that of France.
So, basically the definition of "Eastern Europe" covers the European countries under (former) communist regimes, not that their people necessarily regard themselves as Eastern European apparently. However, there is no consensus on the definition.
So that leaves the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania belonging to the region of Northern Europe; although Wiki says that according to the C.I.A. they are part of Eastern Europe!
And Ukraine is ... um, it is part of Eastern Europe, although it is currently in a territorial dispute with Russia over the Crimean Peninsula.
So did you keep up with all of that?! It has certainly exercised my brain for half an hour!!@#**!
So now I will change the name of my blog!
